Title: Difflock
Post by: blueboar on October 01, 2006, 18:02:14
Hello

I have just tried to engage difflock,  on my 1995 300tdi auto, and I can't move the gear stick over at all. I have had the vehicle for 3 1/2 years and never need it untill to day.

Do you think it is just stiff or is there something else wrong??

Thanks

most likely siezed up... just persevere with it and eventually it might shift :) try some wd40 on the links underneath

they tend to get stuck when theyre not used

no prob :) generally speaking just try to use the low box and if possible diff lock once in a while and everything will be ok

True mate . . . it's use it or loose it.

A bit of gentle persuasion may be all that is required.

Mine was stuck solid when I first got the motor, a good spraying with WD and a good bit of waggling and persuasion and all was sorted.

ours was stiff too... didnt need the wd40, just a good bit of force for a while to move it... its still a bit stiff but its ok. jumps out of low range though sometimes

And don't they go with a clonk when you panic and jam the thing back in gear

Keep hold of the stick for a few seconds when you first engage low and pull off . . . that usually helps make sure it's properly engaged
