Yazz 'The Only Way Is UP!' (don't like the song but, hey!!)
Steve Earle & The Del McCoury Band 'Graveyard Shift' (top tune & one of my favourite CDs; 'The Mountain')
The Meteors 'You Can't Keep A Good Man Down' (from the 'Meteor Madness' EP)

At the opposite end of the spectrum, I wanted the 'Post Horn Gallop' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meM3CT7QMbY) to walk out of the Church to, when we got married.
I was out voted though (for some reason) :?

SWMBO and I left the ceremony to "Let's face the music and dance" by Nat King Cole. No, really, it was her idea. We also had a reading of "How to Look After Your Husband" from a 1950's "Good Housekeeping" that had the guests in stitches.
For the funeral? "When I'm Old And Wise", by the Alan Parsons project is the serious suggestion.
Otherwise... hmm... "Running Free" by Iron Maiden seems like a good idea. "Comfortably Numb" by Pink Floyd might also work. Or insist on a cremation and have "Great Balls of Fire".

Stairway to heaven - Led Zep
Freebird - Lynyrd Skynyrd

Eric Clapton did an ace version of that one. I think its a traditional song (no-one knows who wrote it).
I like the idea of 'Always look on the bright side' as an intro.
and Eric Claptons' 'Edge of Darkness', an instrumental masterpiece as loud as possible so that when it kicks in it may even revive me!
:D :D :D
-
Burn baby burn disco inferno
That would be my choice

would have to be "so what" by metallica just a shame i wouldnt be there to see the look on the vicars face

It was the late, great, Johnny Cash
Ring Of Fire (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4KKuWg7_4Q)
The idea for the Mexican trumpets supposedly came to him in a drug-induced dream.
When he suggested it in the recording studio, they all thought he'd got nuts, but can you imagine it without them now??
-
:) I can usually think of loads but only one springs to mind this evening - "Wouldnt You Miss Me" - Syd Barrett.
-
As i go in i think "jesus built my hotrod - minstry" cos everyone i know hates it, then during the buriel it would have to be "Adagio For The Strings - Samuel Barber" as its one hell of a piece of music!
-
i agree with adagio for strings a most moving musical motiv!!!

The poor old chap died in September 2003, officially of complications due to Diabetes.
His wife June had died a few months previously, so the family still think it was basically a 'broken heart'.
