Title: any heating engineers?
Post by: bezzabsa on October 07, 2006, 20:10:58
we have a back boiler - no idea which make as its ex council house - and i think they brought job lots of anything!
anyway problem is - nights getting colder, go to turn the heating on and NOTHING.. checked the fuse in the timer switch - bingo fuse gone, so swaps fuse turns on and BANG.. blows the fuse - and trips the circuit. worked ok before we turned it off during summer. problem is we dont have a seperate immersion heater - so no back boiler no hot water.. (luckily we have a shower)
 anyone with any ideas????

Its a while since my house had a back boiler, but it did have a pump in the electrical circuit. If the pump has stuck/seized then it may keep blowing the fuse.

start with the pump
disconect wires and then put new fuse in and see if it blows
do the same with any other electrical componants on system
ie motorized valve, room stat ,cyclinder stat ,timer or even the boiler
