Title: How do I fix this?
Post by: bigfatsi on October 08, 2006, 20:23:36
I take it this (http://members.mud-club.com/profiles/bigfatsi/gallery/bigfat90/1/651224390d7edb2fedde06ddaa93383c.JPG/) is caused by a faulty hub-seal? What parts will I need to replace and is there anything else I may as well change whilst I'm at it?

Sorry to ask yet another question, I seem to be taking over this forum!

Simon.

that looks like the drive flange gasket - undo the five bolts , take off the little rubber cap, remove the circlip (and shims) and off it comes - new gaskets is pennies or use instant gasket

I'm struggling to post a link to this:

http://www.paddockspares.com/pp/DEFENDER/Axle/Gasket_-_drive_flange_(aka_hub_gasket)_-_rear_axle_to_KA930455.html

Is this what I'm after? (you may have to copy and paste)

Cheers!

Is it really that easy? Do I need to buy any 'just in case' bits too?

Just a general weeping that's coating the wheel with oil, it's not too clear in the picture but you can certainly see it on the car. May as well fix it for 25p!
