Well we were visited by the men in a stripey jumpers, masks & sacks bearing the word 'Swag' on Saturday night.
I didn't mention it last night as I was still annoyed :x
Some point between my leaving for work at 05:10 &SWMBO getting up at about 08:00, they got in.
Thankfully 'BTM Towers' was untouched, but the workshop was forced open :x
I got a phonecall at work to ask if I'd left the driveway gates open (but i park outside) & had I not locked the workshop??
So on arrival home, I investigated (wearing rubber gloves) and found that my cantilever tool-box had gone, socket set, a (burnt out  ) cordless drill & charger, the BBQ (big damn 4foot long thing) & a patio-heater (6" tall!)
I've just been working out the replacement costs for the toolbox, using the Machine Mart & Maplin catalogues, and have come up with a figure for the items that just were in there of almost £300.00!
It's very annoying as I'd had the socket set for over 25years (a 15th birthday pressie)
Luckily they didn't try the garage, or they'd have found the father-in-laws 7-drawer tool chest that's full of Snap-On, Draper, all up to perhaps 2" sizes etc......
(he was in charge of the local bus company garage & had built it up over the years, but it's in my custody since he took aonther position)
My big (ie; very heavy, 35-40KG??) trolley jack was also in the garage
Curiously enough the cabinet with his air-tools & my drills, power-saws, various odds & ends was still closed :?
So I presume the next step is to re-contact the insurance company with lists

*************, make sure its all secure , they have a tendncy to return, perhaps move the valuables in doors for a while... utter scum..
-
BTM,
Sorry to hear about that
Remember to upgrade the security and move stuff around some may come back.... for the new stuff

Sorry to hear about it as well, hope the family are ok.
I know what I would do to the scroates who did this

What's going on in this country?
I'm a member of four offroad/driving forums with maybe a few thousand members between them- and every week someone gets done over or their car nicked!

Sorry to hear your bad news.
I personally wouldn't advertise whats in your garage incase they are on here looking to sell bits on etc and It will be quiet easy to match your house up to your name if the thieves are looking. Hope they don't return.

Sorry to hear the bad news BTM, assuming that you had the boys in blue round - maybe they'll get some 'dabs' that will lead them to the little scrotes..........then lock a dozen of us in a room with the little toe-rags - justice will be dispensed

sorry to hear about the news too,
My insurance guy suggested (after we got done!) that photos or a video of belongings that is dated is always good to prove what one has, as long as its updated regularly and stored elsewhere....also good if..heaven forbid, you have a fire or som'it similar...
-
Richard,
I don't think I can add much to what has already been said, I think we'd all like to arrange a little 'talking too' for your visitor.
I just want to say that I sympathise and feel sorry for you, I hope Joanne and Amelia are OK too (as OK as can be expected).
-
Thanks all, yes it's not so much of an issue, just damn annoying.
It's sad, but a fact of modern life, no leaving the front door unlocked nowadays.
"When I was a lad.................."

Amelia was at my mums, & Joannes' just annoyed.
Its' sad though, that they didn't come face to face with an ex-Nurse with a (4 D-Cell) Mag-Lite
