Dont think people with ever learn not to jump into the brakeing space between two wagons. As this is the outcome
-
It can also be caused by people Rubbernecking at other accidents and not giving 100% concentration to the road ;)
-
Yea but i run a front mounted video camera that auto recs and saves to disc. so i dont have to take my eyes off the road. . And the car did undertake a few cars and trucks as it came off the m1 and headed down the a50 in heavy rain as well. plus he was swopping lanes like there was no tomorow.
-
the green lorry trailer looks to have a crease in the side. Was that done by the car driver I wonder? If it was he hit the lorry at a hell of a speed.
The best sticker I ever saw was on the back of a lorry and it said "smile as you go under"
-
hate to think how fast he was going but the black lump infront of the o/s front wheel is his gearbox

Offer the police a copy of the footage so the driver really learns his lesson and gets dangerous driving too. That will really make the car drivers day
-
We (HGV drivers) see it everyday
Why do car drivers think that the brakes on a truck are so much better than all the cars around them?
We leave a big gap in front for a reason!
We need it!!
(I hope the driver was ok)

I know exactly what you mean Jake as I get the same when I tow my caravan or voluntary work transit van and trailer. I think everyone should learn to drive in a 3.5 tonne van and then get given a ride in an hgv and do an emergency stop (on a run way or something) so car drivers see how long it takes for a lorry to stop. They may learn then

Yea too true.
The driver is in the back of the ambulance. think they said two broken legs, coupe of broken ribs (from seatbelt) and a very nasty cut to ankle were the pedels dug in.
Amazed that the door just opened normal was expecting to have to rench it open
-
Ouch.
Lucky fella

:? Have you seen on national express and other firms how they now have up to 8 cctv cameras on their vehicles one for either side looking down the side one on the front one on the back and the rest inside it reduce's the insurance upto 50% oh and it records up to about 20+ days!! :?

The same goes for some of the idiots that wander over/along railway lines.
They must think that 300tons can stop from 100MPH in yards

I would offer the video evidence to the Police just to take the heat off the LGV drivers, only seems fair to me, they have their livings at stake here.
People should also ride a motorcycle too, the difference between french drivers, who are usually weaned on mopeds and the like, compared to the UK drivers is phenomenal.....French drivers really do look out for bikers.

But have you seen the French cars? Every other one near enough has a dent in it somewhere

I get the same prob on the M ways. Most car drivers think that my 35 year old landy on MT's will stop as well as an ABS equiped car.
or when i'm towing they just pull into my stopping distance. IMHO they should teach motorway driving as part of the driving test. not offer it as part of the pass plus which not all new drivers take up.
-
 I can remember reading an article on road saftey and they said who would drive safer a driver with every saftey device,or a driver with a spike in the middle of his steering wheel, thats the problem they think there invincable with ABS ESP etc... :?
-
Surely the same happens to all drivers, I realise that a big heavy lorry has a longer stopping distance but I too get peed off with other car drivers who whizz in infront of me and expect me to brake to leave a reasonable distance! grrrrrr
-
These incidents are caused by Arrogance and Ignorance.....
Stopping distances  most drivers dont know the meaning of the word...especially in the wet....
Most drivers think that ABS and Traction control systems will stop them from skidding   .....They obviously haven't heard about driver input yet .... quite a revolutionary concept :D :D :D

Hmmmm... must be other truck drivers I see on the motorway slipstreaming the truck in front then...
Never mind the safety... must be as boring as hell watching the @rse end of a truck that's filling yer windscreen!
