Title: help! key fob playing up need to bin it for key only entry

hi every body getting really frustrated the key fob,it  hardley works .if i use key only the alarm goes off how can i stop the alarm going off when i use the key only? presume disconecting the alarm?? need to bin the key fob and get down to basics and use the key only. thanks glyn. :x

Just asking the obvious - have you tried changing the batteries?

You need to unlock it with the remote, then bin it.  If locked with the remote it will not dissable the alarm if  you unlock with the key.

thanks all especially range rover blues that explains the alarm going off some times and not others doh! that is the cheapest option aswell great cheers glyn.

when you lock it with the fob does the indicators flash 4 times or stay on solid for a few seconds?

If it is solid for a few seconds then that is the warning signal to tell you the key fob battery is low. Very clever I think. I had my indicators warning me about the fobs low battery for 7 months but I was starting to get VERY close to the car to unlock it.

Once it has been locked by the fob you HAVE to unlock it with the fob. No sequence with the key will shut it up unlike some cars.

Before you bin the fob I maybe interested in buying it off you or salvaging out a bin :lol: as I only have 1 fob so if I loose mine I'm stuffed. Another fob that even works sometimes would be nice to have as a back up :D

Its not just the case is it, the buttons get indented underneath and then it takes some messing about to get it to work, you can buy replacement cases from e bay?

I was looking on eblag last night and saw you can get a key fob repair kit
might be worth a look, it was in the landrover listings

thanks all for info just using key at the moment and maybe use the key fob to set the alarm if i park in a dodgey area. looked on ebay at repair kits seems a good cheap option. will keep hold of fobs so at least if i ever sell the disco it will have two sets of keys and fobs sorry muddy james!
