Right my last thread has gone dead so I ask when fitting a 200tdi into a 90 which had a 2.5 n/a to the gearbox off the original 2.5 n/a do you fit the discovery clutch and pressure plate or the 2.5 n/a.
Also what about flywheels 2.5 n/a or 200tdi.
Now I am going to be fitting the 2.5 n/a flywheel housing so there is a correct fit and its water tight also this means I can use all the bolts aswell so is there any problems there.
Cheers guys.

I used the Disco bell housing, disco clutch and disco flywheel. We drilled and tapped the bottom of the bell housing to take the extra studs and it seems pretty watertight.

how did you use the disco bellhousing on a 90 gearbox ?? the input shaft is a different length :?
miniman, if your using origianal box what you could do is , remove clutch, remove flywheel and remove the flywheel surround ( what the bellhousing bolts up to, and swap the 200 1 with the n/a one, then refit flywheel and clutch
long winded but saves faffing round driling holes in wrong places
if you do what i suggested, fit a new rear crank seal while you've got everythin apart, and also id fit a new clutch ect ect aswel

[!Expletive Deleted!] is that why I've got no drive to any of the wheels and I thought it was because the transfer box was knackered :D :D :D
Got carried away typing Disco, meant to say 90 bell housing, sorry.

Well today I found out.......OH.....GET YA HEAD OUTA THE SAND.........................PAUSE...............Nice to have ya back......right Well today I found out that the 90 2.5 n/a and TD plus 200tdi are all the same clutch its the pressure plate thats different. So I presume I need to use the original 2.5 n/a Pressure plate because the thrust race / clutch release bearing are different......Oh dear me its all questions questions....
I have been googleing all over the net and found every write up about it but Nobody has said owt about the clutch.....gurrrrr
-
we did one the other week and used the TD / na clutch
chucked the disco one away
any other questions on the conversion?
-
Oh err yes. NEW
T Belt
Idler bearing
T Belt tensioner
Front and rear crank seal
Injector pump seal
Cam seal
Outer Cover seal
Rocker cover gasket
Fuel filter
Oil Filter
Clutch and bearing
Oil
Land Rover 90
Another thing I did think of was to change the flywheel off my 2.5 n/a aswell as its a bit lighter than the disco one which would make my truck just a tad lively........May lose a bit on the oil fuel economy but hey ho so what its not going to be any worse than my 2/5 Naturaly Asthmatic

so mike you used a disco pressure plate ?
we did one the other week and any other questions on the conversion?
Well as it happens yes. What did ya do about the oil cooler pipes did ya get em professionaly extended ?
What did ya do about the Power steering hi pressure pipe.

When we did mine we used the Disco clutch. I took the oil cooler pipes and power steering pipes over to Pirtek and they made up new ones. make sure you measure up well and get the dimensions right as it aint cheeap or easy to change them if you get them wrong. You may find a local agricultural engineer who can do the job cheaper than Pirtek.

i used defender/TD oil cooler pipes
-
the oil cooler pipes from the TD fitted - just needed to take the unions from the oil filter housing and rad from the old td engine.
had to extend the PAS pipe by about 6" or so and a local hydraulic firm did that for not many pennies.

Its fit and running just silly bits to sort out now... Came home in it tonight....its quick..
-
Nice one Dude, you will love it!
