Less than an hour ! :)
Slacken off steering columb and pipes then pop steering rod off. Then undo chassis bolts. Make sure steering arm on box is inline with chassis as this make it easy to remove.

Easier on a NA D as there is plenty of room to access it from the top, access is more restricted on a 300TDi (not sure about a 200) so you have to do most of it from below. Still not a difficult job though and you should have it done in around an hour or so.

All assuming you have bought the new box with a new drop arm already fitted.
Otherwise removing the drop arm could take 3 or 4 times longer than swapping the box !!!

Just assumed a new box would come with a drop-arm, having tried to remove one once I would definately say you should get one with the arm attached as it can be a pig of a job to get the old one off.

Get one with the arm. you will spend more time trying to get the old arm off than you will fitting the new box.
Let us know how you get on.
