Title: Extending breathers
Post by: bigfatsi on October 28, 2006, 12:54:35
I bought a kit to extend the breathers on my 90. (Cheers Sam :D )

Kit include 2 elbow joint 2 straight connectors and pipe. Am I right in thinking I can use the straight connectors to extend the pipes from the axles to the top of the snorkel? So what are the elbows for? Also do the pipes go into the mushroom at the top of the snorkel or finish just underneath?

Any other hints and tips whilst I'm at it? Off road tomorrow and there might be some wading.

Simon.

If the kit is the type using pneumatic hose, the elbows are likely to be to replace the existing axle breather valves. Unscrew the valve and screw the elbow in. Run the hose along the axle (using the ever present cable ties!!) to a suitable point to 'jump' across the the chassis. Make sure there is enough slack for full axle articulation. Then as high as you think necessary. Mine ends at the top of the engine bay with the gearbox breathers.
