I`ve done more or less a straight swap from the defender with totally dead engine, (and much work required) for a J reg 200tdi 5 door disco, as part of the deal i`m keeping the nearly new 235*85 mud tyres and rims from the defender, so the obvious question is where these are goin next..
disco is bog standard, how much abuse will it take to fit the wheels, or is it best storing them til either a lifted disco, or a Tdi defender is found sometime next year?
Cheers folks.

Have you tried a search? If you enter 'tyre size' select 'Search for all terms' and search in the Discovery section you should find all you want to know and more you didn't  :D
-
excellent!
thought it would be posted somewhere before, but didnt fancy trawling pages and pages!

They might fit onto a standard 200/300 Discovery, but I wouldn't recommend any offroading!
I had the same size tyre - but I had a 1" lift, I cut the rear arches and the steering lock had to be adjusted.
-
PLus as remoulds these will be taller than a first-use tyres of that size
Plus they might not be speed rated for the Disco
-
I have 235/85 Machos on my 200 Series Disco and they scuff the rear arches on full articulation, and thats with a 3 inch lift.
This might help Tyre fitting guide !!!! (http://members.shaw.ca/jbarge/tires.html)

What's the speed rating on them mate?
-
I think the rating is N which is 87mph

Got to say the Machos are great in the wet.
Absolutly bouncing down, outside lane of the M4 back from Newport at 75-80 no problems. had to brake sharp for the idiot ([!Expletive Deleted!] gets about) and not even a hint that the tyres didn't like it.
-
Just noticed that when you type the word "[!Expletive Deleted!]" the site deletes it automatically  [!Expletive Deleted!] [!Expletive Deleted!] [!Expletive Deleted!]

I'd rate them better than BFG MT in the mud too, certainly no worse. Not as smooth on the highway though but you're right about the grip, never an issue.
-
I didn't realise the Macho was M speed rating - that rules out all Discos and most Defenders I believe.
