Title: diff adjustment
Post by: muddysteve on October 03, 2004, 20:43:43: hi all, being a relative newbie to this landrover thing i'm wondering if there is anyway to tighten the slack out of the diffs on my disco??

done it a few times on the suzuki and i was just wondering if its the same? ie tighen up the nut on the input shaft and line the big cog inside up useing the disc things on either side of the diff? never been inside a landy diff so i have no idea what it looks like in there.

my front diff is a little sloppy

I suspect that it could be a little challenging however - Tim (muddyweb) will probably be able to advise

Post by: muddyweb on October 04, 2004, 11:39:45: It's not a terrible job... it's one of the procedures I was intending to photograph for the new workshop section... since one of mine needs adjustment.

If you can wait for a few days, I'll try and get it done

i've done a suzuki sj diff so it can't be too much more involved than that (i hope)

Post by: Range Rover Blues on October 05, 2004, 00:27:31: Hope it's not as scary as the old Ford English axle, the section on rebuilding the diff for that one is longer than the whole section for the engine (in the Ford workshop manual) and the list of special tools is a couple of pages!
