I dunno who you are, but I just want to say THANX to the lad in the black 90, with his mate, and Boxer dog in the back, who turned up just as I broke down tonight, and dragged my sorry ass home.
Cam belt pully sheared off the end of the cam, trashed the motor just a bit.
Thanx anyway mate, never did get chance to say it properly, due to gettin car on drive and sorted etc.
Rollazuki.

so it was the cam that was the problem...whats the damage?
-
cam, valves, belt, Hoping pistons have survived.......
-
isuzu 1700 TD lump? or the GM 1700 TD?
-
Isuzu 1.7 tdi. Looks like the cam pulley bolts have sheared flush with the drive flange, cam belt got a bit knotted up, and now in 3 pieces, and about 5 or 6 valves bent.
Unusual, cos the isuzu lump is supposed to be a tough unit. was running fine until this happened.
Im just hoping the head and valve guides+seats are OK, and no damage to pistons.(itll be a day or two till I can get the head off!)

Is that not what you have mike....?

It looks like the hardened dowel that locates the cam pulley is missing(maybe never fitted?), and eventually the three cam pulley bolts have given in and let go.
lotsa bent valves!
