I went to go out in my 90 earlier and found that upon releasing the handbreak it "springs" back on, like its got a mind of its own. I cant seem to release it so it stays off....any ideas?

needs a bit lube inside the cable or the drum off & clean the mech up,on your motor it should be a direct entry handbrake cable so there aint much to the mech
-
Whats the best way of getting lube into the cable?
-
You could also clean out the drum. The amount of mud that gets in there is quite amazing.
Take off the shoes and clean behind them, remove and clean expanders, refit shoes and drum, then adjust to correct take up.
Or - fit a disc kit!
-
smo wont have expanders, its a direct entry set up
-
Ah yes - TD5.
Note to self - pay attention!! :smack:

So back to my original question, how do i get lube in the cable? Does it have a nipple or is it a dismantle, lube manually and reassemble?
God i wish i had a TD5 workshop manual!
-
ARGH - i've checked the cable inside the cab, and its jammed solid - so went to remove the drum adn see whats happening that end only to find i cant get the rear prop off as there is no lateral movement after undoing the bolts - it simply doesnt budge cos its at its shortest already.
EDIT: Prop now off, cover off, all free and moving, cover back on and ickle screw that holds it in place is er, nick nacked!
I'm not a happy bunny! I need the car working tomorrow to get to work.
