Been thinking about some front fogs for 2 reasons, 1st being the fog, 2nd as driving lights to enhance the otherwise crap headlights on my 90.
I have a set of Hella Micro De's on my bike as the lights on that are crap, and these are great as driving lights, and having looked on Ebay they are fitted as fogs to most German cars, but the question is where to mount them so as not to rip them off when off road.
One idea was to mount them in the bumper, cut some nice big holes, and can put a grill on the front iof need be, but need to be low so can use as driving lights
Any other great ideas or solutions already been done?

Now i did look at fitting them in my steering guard the problem is depth still think they would look cool there though? :?

or invest in some of those new fangled LED jobbies - sen a few guys using them Ultra cool running and Bloomin bright too!!
may be an idea - think theres a guy on fleabay selling them

The only other thing is to change your headlights i fitted brand new and changed the wiring to put main and dipped on relays so the feed to them was straight from the battery's this made a lot of difference. 8) Mind you i now run HID bulbs in them which is even better... 8)

I was looking for a cheapish option, HID's are good but too pricey for now, and same with LED's, I know the Hella's are good and give a good distance and spread so very good driving lights for dipped beam, not too offensive.
In this pic you can just make them out, smaller than the indicators and 5x better than the headlight

So no need for a bi hole to fit them, and come with a U bracket to fit them to, so front bumper seems a good option.

I used to have the micro's and they where the best fog's i have tryed like you say the problem is mounting low enough but not low enough for damage... 8)

make some sort of quick release bracket, and take them off before you go offroad
my bro did this on his rangey. i think his just bolted into the bumper on hefty wingnuts, he just took them off when we went playing

.HID's are good but too pricey for now
and illegal in the UK unless you have a self levelling.

Ahhhhhhhh. A 1150GS in Graphitan, i've got one of those. :D Is that a Wunderlich screen on Tobinators because i've got that set-up as well?
I run four Hella FF50's on mine, two on the Wunderlich engine-bars (like you've got) which are set up to come on on dip and then when I go onto high they go off and the other pair come on (mounted on a Migsel light-bar) just below the beak. The aux lighting circuit has an over-ride switch & warning light as the headlamp has no on-off switch and I don't want the Hella's on during the day or when running when there is a lot of other light (i.e. heavy traffic, motorways etc).
The FF50's are an excelent little light which has performance far above its size but that is what you get from buying a quality light unit. They would look a bit silly on a LR but I am certainly getting some Hella aux lights to replace the useless Wipac 100W units.

Mine are on the migsel light bar the engine bars are no longer fitted, have been loking on Ebay as quite a few other cars have these but rebadged so not as pricey
BUt will suit the 90 well if mounted in the bumper, I run mine all the time on the GS, people see me coming which is good
