Title: Defender 90 Truck Cab Cover
Post by: jamesledingham on November 07, 2006, 12:13:37
I've just bought a SWB Truck Cab (closed Cab) and am after a cover for the truck. Not a full height cover; just a tarp type cover to keep water off and eyes away.

OK, so they're called tonneau covers! Any recommendations on where to get one?

Exmoor Trim possibly?

Or fabricate your own from ALi sheeting, made to measure and lockable :)

I made me own for my seriesIII.  First one I made was made from a Halfords trailer cover tarpaulin cut down a bit and with eyelets I bought from the local upholstery supplier, lasted about 6 months.  Second one was made from a piece of lorry side, those curtain siders, cut to size, glued and with the eyelets left over from the first one.

The pick up bed has everything you need to tie it down, first one I used a bit of nylon rope second one used elastic rope.

I bought mine from All Wheel Trim (http://www.allwheeltrim.co.uk), I think.

Cost about £130 all in (including the retaining bar at the front, a tonneau bar and some extra clips) I think. I got the thicker black one - think it's the same material as they use on Curtain side lorries.

Have a look on my webshots (the 300TDi stolen one). There's some shots of it done.

Cheers

Ben
