Title: Fuel Gauge
Post by: Snooky on November 10, 2006, 09:36:23
What do I need to replace to stop the fuel light jumping on and off one the tank reaches half full to empty

And is there an easy way of getting the speedo to stop bouncing like a nutter below 40mph  :)

First question is does ya fuel guage work correctly ?
Second is if not you need a new fuel sender.

Second is New speedo cable sounds like its getting old.

Fuel sender easy enough, what about the speedo cable?

Well its easy as owt to do... It comes off ya gearbox just about where ya middle seat is. If ya crawl under and have a look you will find it. It comes up the bulkhead and into the bulkhead via a gromet then ya clocks are easy enough to take out just phillips screws...

The speedo sounds like the cable to me too.  They always do that when the cable is getting old and has twisted slightly (it can't turn smoothly and so jumps, which causes the needle to bounce).  A nice easy fix. :D

The fuel gauge problem, I'd be interested in (I have the same problem).

Right well the low fuel light is built into the tank sender unit. So which one of you is rich go out and buy a new sender unit and fit that. I have a B reg 90 and I dont have a fuel light at all but then I have not checked any bulbs.....and if it was fixed it would be on all the time anyway....lol
