I have a 90 with various bits changed like the axles are probably from a 110 (but TBH I'm not sure). The front axle has vented discs and the rear just boring discs and as the 90 is 1985 I suspect the axles aren't original!
The front prop shaft UJs both need replacing and I have fitted one of them quite successfully but - ain't there always a but ...
The spider can move quite a long way in one of the yolks - the circlips are in but I can push the caps back and forth under finger pressure.
The other yolk is fine.
So the question is are there different UJ sets? The ones I have are genuine Hardy Spicer from my local LR man.
Thanks for any help.

There are two sizes of UJ and sounds like you may have the wrong size fitted - do you still have the old ones you took off to measure from ?
Just changed my V8 110 rear uj's at the weekend and they are quite a bit larger than my 200 tdi 90's
110 is an '86 so quite old - maybe the same for your 90 since it is '85, although as far as I was aware it was only V8's that were different (although I may of just dreamt that last bit !)

Well I have the one that came off and I've compared to the second new one that I haven't fitted and it looks the same.
Got different marking on it, something about USA but I can't imagine that's the place.
I got the impression that the V8 had a different size.
What strikes me as odd is that one yoke fits fine the other one doesn't.

Theyre the same diameter caps, but I believe about 3/32 difference across the joint(ie cap to cap)
Ask your local joint supplier to get the longer one for you.

It was indeed the larger size which are now snugly fitted to the prop.
There's always one cup that doesn't baheve I guess and for me it was number 6 of the 8 I did. I beat it in teh end though!
