WHOOOOO!
http://www.rhifilms.com/property.php?propertyId=Hogfather
IMDB list it too. David Jason as Albert, should be good.
-
but is there a release date??
-
No, IMDB has it pegged for this year, if that were the case we'd have been seeing trailers by now. Although aparently SKY are putting money into it so might end up on TV. There are pics of the filming around so it is happening.
Terry has always said that he didnt want to do a movie, guess someone shoewd him enough wedge. Personally I reckon Soul Music might have been a better choice.
-
soulmusic might be better, but hogfather will appeal to more people.
its about christmas, which will sell.
hogfather should be released just before christmas. so they got a year to finish it.
-
Yaaaayyyyy!!!!!!
About time!
We gotta find a release date!
Shame the Librarian aint in it... my favourite character... then Captain Vimes... then Nobby... then... well.. Mott C Dibbler!
Although... there is a special place for DEATH.... he has a certain.... GRAVITAS... when he says..... QUITE....!

Wonder how they will do death? CGI?

Apparently it's gonna be a 4 part mini series on SkyuOne at "the end of the year"... as it's The Hogfather.... I think we can all figure that one out!
Started thinking about the other characters... and actually...every one of them is a favourite!
-
Hex should be good :)

my favourite character... then Captain Vimes...
I'd like to see a 'Guards' film
Who would play whom???
(some cast suggestions here (http://www.lspace.org/))
-
Went to see "Guards! Guards!" the stage play years ago in Edinburgh...
The nasty crewmember from Blakes 7 played Vimes... only name of note as far as I remember...
-
About time! I reckon the Hogfather would make a great movie, MORT, would be another good'un...

The actual list (http://www.lspace.org/fandom/afp/ultimate-discworld-casting-page.html)
Some interesting suggestions are;
Sam Vimes; Richard Dean Anderson ('Stargate'??)
Havelock Vetinari; Ian Richardson (he'd be perfect  )
Granny Weatherwax Sheila Sabatini ('ex- 'Surgical Spirit' star  )
Sybil Ramkin; Penelope Keith, Patricia Routledge, Jennifer Saunders (after voicing the Fairy Godmother in 'Shrek 2', she'd do well)
(surprisingly, no-one's suggested Anjelina Jolie as Angua  )
-
It should be entertaining :)
there is mention of it in the most recent sky magazine which said it will be on around christmas.
-
Well according to the Paul Kidby site it is definately being screened on Sky at Christmas  Hmmmmmm........ who do I know with Sky who I can hijack at christmas
-
Get someone with Sky to tape it for you.
I will tape it, if only because it will probably be worth watching more than once.
I think that Nightwatch would make a good film, finding someone to play Carrot and keep a straight face might be a problem though.
Pete.

So.... here is the big question.... who'd play Nanny Ogg...?!
:?: :?:

-
That looks good.... Now I have to book a baby sitter.

How about the actress who played Lady 'whoever' in 'Blott On The Landscape'??
The stately home in question was Handyman Hall, & thus; Maud Handyman
-
Will air as 2, 2 hour episodes on Sky one over Xmas, dont know when though. Cant find a guide that goes far forward enough :)

Shame the Librarian aint in it... my favourite character...
Well that's wrong for a start as he is in the book!

Played by the amply bosomed Geraldine James I believe (more bitty mama)!
Just finished reading Blott for the nth time
So glad they are doing a screen version, just hope it lives up to the book.
The animations are very good. I have both Soul Music and Wyrd Sisters.
-
The Sky mag arrived this morning. It's showing on Sky 1 on Sunday 17 and Monday 18 December at 8.00 pm. Guess who's just bought a DVD recorder

Sky 3?

<rain>
erm lets thinks about this. Its on sky as a mini-series before Xmas. It'll have to appeal to all and be intelligible to all at first watch. Methinks the subtleties are gonna get obliterated and we'll be left with a sacharine pratchett fascimile
</rain>
now prove me wrong.

I dunno, few of the odd jokes from the book are there. Including the groanworthy 'LET SLEIGH THEM' from Death. Wonder how they will do his voice?
