Whilst returning home yesterday I passed a sign that made me turn round & go look.
I knew this 'attraction' was on its way, but didn't expect it to be at this point
Digger Land (http://www.diggerland.com/) is coming to West Yorkshire.
Previously it had been thought to be planned for the same site as 'Xscape', which is alongside the M62 at junction 32.
However, it's preparation work is starting just off Willowbridge Road (http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?client=public&X=441000.99999878&Y=424500.946016064&width=700&height=400&gride=440799.99999878&gridn=424699.946016064&srec=0&coordsys=gb&db=grid&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=&advanced=&local=&localinfosel=&kw=&inmap=&table=&ovtype=&keepicon=true&zm=1&scale=25000) at Whitwood, which is a literal 'stones throw' between junction 31 & 'Xscape'

My lad went to the one near Durham and loved it, good to see more are coming

theyre great. my wife and kids took ME for fathers day. It was hilarious, had a great day. not cheap, but damn good fun.
I guess JCB drivers are all saying 'eh, I do it every day ' etc, but I enjoyed it...
-
looks like fun, book me a day in the thick stuff!
-
Why wait for it to be developed, when the paying customer could have fun developing the site.
-
Took my boys the the one near Chatham in Kent. They absolutely loved it ... so we keep going back!
-
Shame that wasn't there last year or I'd have gone for mt stag do.
Hey, hang on a minute, I've one to organise next summer........

It's just about 2miles away Andy, so I'll be keeping an eye on the pace of development

I saw the signs for the County Durham about 3 years ago when we took the BWSOW up to Berwick-upon-Tweed for a week, but I wasn't allowed to go

the only downside to that is the crime rate and plant theft goes up  a contractor my mate works for was doing some work near the one in Kent and they reckon the local scrotes went there to learn how to drive them cos over a weekend they trashed 500k,s worth of machinery on the site by using a 20ton 360 to open the cabs of another 10 machines  who needs keys
when plod arrived they said is quite common as the kids learn about the diggers at digger land then go joyriding in the diggers on sites

Have to say... went to the Durham site and although I mostly enjoyed the experience (work team building event)... it was chav city!
All the "operators" looked like they'd come from the nearest pik.... romany gypsy encampment... all of them were wearing trainers and hoodies... their HSE practices didn't exactly instill confidence.
They laid on a "buffet"... I was speechless... the kids who turn their noses up at Jamie olivers food in favour of processed chicken bits would have been disgusted by what was served!
Not... you understand... that I'm bitter!

If I go to the right camps I get to play with big bendy toys for my voluntary work for about a week. It is awesome fun driving them.
Excavators are my favourite bendy toy. I dont mind sitting ontop of a huge pile of gravel and loading dumpers or very delicatly placing a huge coping stone in exactly the right place being guided by a banks man and having to stand up with controls behind you to see a little bit of whats happening. Awesome fun. Hopefully I will get to a digger land one day for a non serious fun play day :D
