My 90 was a real smoker when I got it due to badly set valve clearances and a few other niggles. It has now started to burn oil (blue smoke) and I'm presuming this is through the turbo as it only does it after a certain throttle position when you would expect the turbo to start 'blowing' yet at cruise with little throttle it is clear. Can you buy new oil seals etc to fix em or do I need a new turbo? It's a 2.5td.

the best thing u can do is save for a cheap 200ti engine from a disco.
i think that i have mentioned this before
beleive me it is the most sensible thing to do - i have seen so mnay people like u with the TD engines fannying around nursing them - its a waste of time IMV - get a 200 engine it will save u ££££

Theyre pretty simple inside, but generally need special tools to get seal rings off etc.
They are a wee bit fragile when stripped.
Try Turboactive for a refurbed unit.

ive rebuilt a turbo just to see what they are like to do,
its a pain in the ass
had to make 4 special tools :shock:
good job i got a lathe and miler :shock:
aint been tested yet, its my back up for when my new one blows itself up :oops:

Agree with the others..........buy a 200/300tdi...........more power :wink:
