The chap that serviced my Disco hasn't changed the gearbox fluid as he isn't to sure what to use. He was going to use a synthetic oil he uses on the Army Wolfs. When he looked at it he said the stuff in it was a different colour and so hes left it until we can find out what should be used.
The paperwork I have says ATF. Its an LT77 box is that the right stuff or are we better off using a synthetic ?
Will this improve gear selection as third is very notchy?

they say auto trans fluid, but mtf is best, got mine from local landy garage but had to buy 5 ltr and supply the tin. have a look at difflock website they do the fully synthetic oil which some people say is good, not cheap though. alan.....

MTF94 is a good allternative/upgrade over normal ATF,if you cant get MTF94, ATF DEX3 is a good alternative

I've used ep90 in my B-W tranfer box before, it makes no difference.

EP90 in a LT77 will seize the box

I was aware of the one. But thanks for the warning anyway.

the recomended fluids for TRANSFER Box is ep90 Gear Oil.. and for the GEAR BOX its A.T.F as supplied and fitted by Ashcroft in their Transfer & gearbox.
