Norfolk line from Dover to Dunkerque are probably your best bet. 51 Euros for Emily and I to get back to the UK with the car a couple of weeks ago.

Be very flexable on the timings DOver to calis can be cheap in the middle of the night

Go on P&O and Sea france website But having looked in the last couple of weeks Eurotunnel was cheaper

cheers guys

found one return to boulogne from dover for 59 quid for 4 of us in the middle of may which isnt too bad i guess

suppose its quicker to drive thee, spend a couple of hours or less on the ferry and cane it to western france rather than sit on another ferry from plymouth or portsmouth for 7 hours or more then drive

prob get there quicker!

We do Portsmouth St Malo on the overnight, bit more pricey as you need a cabin for decent kip but no more pricey than a hotel room... get there having slashed driving and the roads out of St. Malo put us right on course. We go with the Caravan and book through the caravan club inc the holiday so can't really quote prices.... check the ferry sites.. easy to run some various quotes.. Tues and Wed I think were cheapest.

We paid £139 for a car and caravan return with Norfolk Line in July. Brand new ships, no foot passengers or coaches and 2 hours to Dunkirk.
I have used them several times now and will do again.

I have just booked a day trip for the disco and 3 adults for December 19th for £20 return with P&O. On thier web site it shows £15 each way with £6 fuel surcharge each way, but if you look up www.daytripper.net and go via that site you get a return crossing for £20 and dont pay the fuel surcharge.

Bargain I think. No use for 4 people in May for a week but still I thought I would mention it

We went last year from Portsmouth to Le Havre via LD Lines. They are the 'Easy jet of the Channel'. It cost us about £120 for the return ticket. Le Havre is a good point to go for as it puts you within striking distance of all of France.
If you wanted to Spain, there is a new company running from Portsmouth to Bilbao and are putting a challenge into P&O, so there may be a price war starting soon. I can't recall the name of the new lot, but their boat is called the Fortuny. Google search should through the name up.
Celtic lines are starting from Portsmouth to Cherbourg in January; that may be worth a look.

I use a site called 'ferry savers', sort out a price and usually book direct with ferry's ! But sometimes they can knock off 20 beer tokens or so.
But as said middle of night is cheap, with dover/calais usually cheapest. But if you cross in the night be carefull if you park up in the laybys when in France - loads of car crime goes on by travellers from the East!

The bu**ers! They get everywhere! Do they do 'Le tarmacing pour votre driveway, monsewer'?
I'm surprised that Le Gendarmes have not givem them a bit of a slapping. They seem to do it everyone else.

like a lot of other people seem to have done, i also used norfolk line. dover-dunkerque was the cheapest when i went. Its a 2 hour crossing.

their website is http://www.aferry.to

My ticket cost me £78 for a 6 day return for just me and the car at 3pmish a month ago.
