right got a disco 200tdi witha factory fitted alarm and a strange fault the key fob works(new batteries). but the imobliser is on and the centrel locking dont work. and every now and then the alarm led will flashes like its trying to set itself but it dont.
So anybody got any ideas on what could be wrong with it and also were is the alarm fitted as i cant find it.
-
Sorry mate no idea  but having the very same problem.
Just been and got some stuff out of it and the alarm went of but no sound. :(bigangry): still not working the central lock though.

alarm ECU is fitted behind and to the right of the main fuse box in a 200 discovery (look for a black box mounted to side of vehicle)
AFAIK there was no factory fitted immobiliser to the 200 series only an alarm, it sounds like either your alarm has been left in an armed state or the ECU has not been programmed to the remotes. the reprogramming procedure is a little involved but is certainly do-able (requires 2 people though!)
it could be that the central locking fuse has blown of course.

Found the fault. and think its one of them things everybody should know. Under the bonnet on the drivers sides the wiring loom off the battery goes in to a lenght of cloth inside this lenthg on cloth is four wires which have a fuse able wire in them which is just soldered in place and is open the the water and dirt that gets inside the cloth. So the wire had corroded away and broke. So clean them up resolidered them together and sealed the connections up and its up and running again

Its still ok mate no problems you did a spot on job there i would of never found that.

No problem mate. if it does it again i will pop down and get rid of the cloth and offending wiring and use a more suitable encloser and sealed connectors
