Title: vit alternator

First the battery dies, so i get one from from halfords that cost £50 then a few days later the alternator dies! that cost me £120, 3 weeks later, ive been off road. an the alternater has gone again!!!! any one else had any problems?  :cry:

all you can do is try and clean it after every trip off road

Yup, filled it with grinding paste :)

I keep a spare now and make a point of cleaning and greasing the sucker every time I go offroad. I would check the battery too though. have had them go bad from this particular source.

On my first Vit, I got through 2 recon alternators until I realised it was a dodgy wire under the box by the battery that was @ fault. I'd fit the alternator, put my volt meter on top of the fuse box to test the output & all was well, once I removed the meter, the connection was broken, thus no charge going into the battery!
Had me pulling  my hair out (what little I've got left) for a few days that did  :oops:

if you can find the alternator with an external fan they seem to cope better,
they also have removable brush pack at the back which can be a quick fix as they just become jammed,

im not going to say how long mines been in the car as its bound to jink me lol.  but i do carry a aspare

i know its  abit big . lol tried to make it a bit smaller maybe need to resize the old image
