Ok people I need to fit some sort of recovery points on the little green one(must save up for a winch) and was looking at Jate Rings, can anyone tell me where they fit on a Series 3
-
Don't think there's any mounting point on a Series that are suitable.
The best bet on the front is probably a pair of bumper 'D-Rings'
On the rear a suitably well anchored tow-hitch that's got a good spreader plate with a comparably good rear cross-member
(I've got a spare pair of D-Rings somwhere)
-
my jate rings fit through the front dumb irons - although its a little tight to fit rope through  or have a look at www.rjharvey.co.uk they are advertising swivelling tow eyes at 30 quid all in including 3.5 ton shackles. dunno what they are like though
-
Scorpion have a nice rear-recovery ring that bolts through the rear cross-member.

i'm looking for some form of recovery rings for a range rover classic but want to also have steering protection.
I have been told that rebel type underbody protection fits to the outside of the chassis so with bullbars also it causes a problem
is there an additional problem with jate rings?
if so any suggestions?

Thanks Richard, could you tell me where to put them(and no they won't fit there  ).I have 2 3.5ton eye bolts but is the bumper strong enough to pull the shed out of the mud. :?
-
Pete, the bumper D-Rings fit in place of the standard bumper bolts (replaced with high-tensile) & the other pair of the quartet are drilled through the top face of the bumper.
Simmonites up Thornton Road at Bradford stock them, or we can work something out for the pair I've got if you're interested in some?

Cheers Richard if ya let me know how much ya want I'll sick a cheque in the post mate.
-
According to the Simmonites site, they're £34.50 a pair.
How does £15.00sound?
Or whereabouts in Leeds are you, I could possibly drop them in? (work or home)
-
That would be great Richard,I live in Tinshill and work in Hunslet but could meet you somewhere.
-
Tinshill, isn't that Sheffield?
As in Tinshill viaduct (jct 34?, MeadowHell Shopping Nightmare)
Or as I getting it wrong again?
-
Close Richard, you're thinking of Tinsley, in Sheffield

D'oh!!!!
Of course, silly me. I'm fairly familiar with Leeds, but never heard of that Tinshill before.
Is it Horsforth way?
-
Sorry I took so long to reply Richard I've been giving the PC a sound thrashing with a big stick, seems to work now  .Yes Tinshill is next to Horsforth mate.
-
Pete, I've found them in the outside Log-Store.
They're not LR genuine parts having originally being bought at Simmonites (or possibly PRB Services?)
When they were fitted to the 90 they had to be re-drilled in order to make allowances for the Land Rover 'build tolerances'
If you're still interested I'm probably free at some point on Thursday (dependant on a furniture delivery), or Friday morning/dinnertime
-
Richard I'm working all day Thursday but finish at 12 on Friday could meet you somewhere after that or would it be easier to send you a cheque for the £15 + some postage.
-
I'll let you know, but Friday dinnertime sounds okay to me at the moment.
Somewhere near 'The Punchclock', or DM Keiths (Skoda main dealer) at Thwaite Gate?
-
would it be easier to send you a cheque for the £15 + some postage.
I'd rather you see the goods first, just in case the bolt holes are drilled in the wrong places.
I've sent you an E-mail with my phone number
-
Richard cheers mate their just the job and thanks for being so helpful.
-
No worries. Nice to put another face to a screen-name
