Title: Reverse Plunger Assembly
Post by: lyndon on November 27, 2006, 19:44:34
I have replaced the bias plate and springs. I have dismantled the reverse plunger ass and replaced the springs in that. But still there is no real gate between first and reverse. I am now thinking that the little plunger inside the assembly has a worn shoulder and so the ball bearing is too easily pushed to one side when selecting reverse or first even.

A replacement is £50 +vat and there are no pattern parts only original landrover. The choices open to me are to fork out for a new one. Take one off a scrap gear box locally or take the assembly apart and use a file to put a shoulder back onto the plunger.

Whats the way to go people ?.

Start by DIY, it's the cheapest option costing only your time.  Otherwise go for S/H and try before you buy.
