I seem to have a wee starting prob .
Doesn't happen all the time.
Turn the key to ignition, no prob, turn it to start & nowt happens, no clicking from soleniod, no life in starter.
Battery fully charged.
Tried this for half an hour, to no avail.
Phoned mechanic m8.
He arrived & tried it..... same.
Attatched tow rope to see if it would tow start..... tried 1 last time..... b*gger me, it started no probs !
Felt like a real pr*ck !
Tried it again....... started no probs !
I know it wasn't a jammed starter, as you would get some life from it.... clicking.
Had a sparky check it out today, but found nowt wrong.
Something i'm missing here ?
Any info greatfully received chaps :D

Exciter wire, bad connection. It makes the starter go intemmitant. Take it off and give the terminal a clean, tighten the spade connector a little and put it back on.
Jobs a good 'un :)

Exciter wire ?
Sounds like sommat naughty ;)
Seriously, where do i find this ?

Open the bonnet and stand at the drivers side, just in front of the drivers door. Look down at the starter. You'll see a single thin wire with a spade connector going to the starter .... thats the one. IIRC its white with a black stripe.

Hmmm need to take the shield off then lol.
Ok sheddy, cheers m8 :D
-
OOOPS, forgot.
Sorted Sheddy. Connection was corroded. That shield was a [!Expletive Deleted!] to get off tho' :? I'll know for when the starter needs doing.
Thank you :D

Absolute pleasure m8. Its one thing haveing experienced the problem myself, its a bonus when I get to help someone else with the knowledge gained from solving it.

Yeah, I've had that. For th record I've also had a relay stuck open when I left it for a few weeks.

how olds the disco, is it a 300. they have a spider unit as part of the imobiliser unit. known for playing up. mine did the same thing, next time it does it get a test light on the small wire on the starter see iff ya get a feed when someone cranks it, iff yourve no feed at the starter when you try to crank it over i'd think could be spider fault. there is a few threads on this. there is a fix. but also you can get a bypass plug, cheers alan.....
