Title: oil change
Post by: Daz800 on November 29, 2006, 20:13:50
I think i have read somewhere that if you do a engine oil change on a TD5 engine you can not remove all the oil due to the oil pump not able to reprime. Is this correct.

I ask this as i would like to service my disco 2 myself.

I was at my dealer's a few weeks ago, and he kept trying to interest me in buying the G4 Spec Discovery 3 he had on the showroom floor.  (Yeah, right!)  Anyway, the factory skid plates make it impossible to change the oil without removing one of them.  So I asked how you'd go about changing the oil.  "Well, you just hook up the oil vacuum to the top, or course." was his answer.  It seems I'm the first guy they'd come across who changes his own oil.

my brother has a vacume thing that sucks the oil of of his car. He has to use it on his air compresser.

Yes, your right I do have one, but I use a local garage instead. Saves me even plugging in the compressor

Tip of the week as far as oil changes go.... before you put the new stuff in... take off the OLD filter and put on the NEW filter....
