Just seen a 300tdi disco turbo on ebay for sale just down the road from me and was wondering if it would fit straight onto my 200 and whether it would make any differences to speed etc. it comes with all the manifold too and will that fit??
Cheers
-
anyone know??
-
not 100%, but im sure the 200 and 300 turbos are from different manufacturers, they are definately in totally different places !
someone will soon let u know for sure.
-
are you sure they are in different places as i was told the only main difference is the EGR valve or something??
-
that much i am sure about. i have 200 and 300 tdi's on the 200 the turbo is out in the open, easily accesible for [!Expletive Deleted!] about with, the 300 it is out of sight cannot get to, have to drop exhaust etc off to mess about with.
give it a while hour or so someone on here will put you right.
-
ok cheers for that
-
they do fit and a few people have done it
ive looked into it but i couldnt be arsed messing around with it
if you want more power out of your 200 fit a 300 actuator to your turbo and and youll be able to run alot more boost
or just open you origional actuator up

o ok, sounds like a good idea. is it easy to do?? how do you open the original one up and also do you know how much an actuator costs from 300 ??

No offence dude but if you have to ask on here i wouldnt advise you doing it,
Ive poped the headgasket on mine by running to much boost & its easily done
-
I'm confused....
If you shorten the actuator you'll be getting exactly the same boost as a 300tdi... so why bother running a 300Tdi actuator??
If you want better boost control get a better aftermarket actuator, or a decent boost controller ( ).
And if you want more than 1 bar your better off looking for a hybrid turbo too!
And take Mikes coments on board.
If you limit yourself to 1 bar you'll be ok (most of the time) - I've ran numerous 200Tdi's at 1 bar without a problem - start going much higher and you will/might have HG problems!!
But more boost is pointless (virtually) without tweaking the pump for more fuel.

2bh ian i really dont no i asked myself that question when someone told me to do it
afink it was andy from allisport over on the d4x4 forum :?
i wouldnt like run one anyway, my 200 actuator will take it upto 1.4bar so watever that is in psi
now keeping her at 1.1 and so far she done 3 k and no props as of yet and did 5k b4 engine rebuild at that pressure no problems
am not stupid im not taking it upto 20psi like some people
go on  ur gonna tell me thats 1.1 bar now aintcha

20 psi is 1.3 bar
i found thats good for removing the HG from between the cylinders 3 & the water jacket

well cheers for the help everyone. I've decided not to touch the turbo as its ok at the moment. Another quick qestion though, well 2 actually, I have no real turbo lag and kick in, is this normal or not?? and also will fitting a bigger intercooler do anything??
Cheers

Fitting a big IC wont make any odds unless u alter the FIP,
-
o ok. What would you say about the very slow turbo kick in and not much turbo lag?? any ideas

o ok. What would you say about the very slow turbo kick in and not much turbo lag?? any ideas
well if the turbo is slow to kick in its got a lot of lag...
u checked the usual things?
service items etc
-
yeah i meant a lot of lag. I got a service kit the other day, as in air filter, oil filter etc but haven't fitted it yet so do you think if i fitted that it would make a difference?
