Title: Fuel consumption
Post by: bonio73 on December 01, 2006, 20:35:50
Oh my God!!

Just worked out what my 1990 110 V8's fuel consumption is......11.89mpg

That seems awfully low - how can it be improved?  I know that my mud tyres don't help, but surelyu I can do something!?

it wont as much go bang, the turbo goes a kinda cool white colour just before the noises start

An EGT guage is a good thing to have before any screws get fiddled with, wish i had one when i was running the old turbo,

To get back ON THREAD thats about right for URBAN usage of a 110 V8 - used to average between 8 and 15 MPG in my carb RRC's.. but strangely used to get between 16 and 30MPG in my Disco 3.5 V8 on carbs  :?:

Danny, why not change the engine and sell the 200Tdi you have taken out to make some money back, not as fun as blowing it up but easier on the pocket. Are you still going TD5??

Thanks bezzabsa!  Was wondering where that was going.  It only gets driven 2 miles to work in the morning up a very steep hill onto the moor, and then the return journey back in the evening.  A short trip to the stables in the evening of about 1 mile and back.
