Hi All
Is it possible to mod the lights on a 'L' Reg Disco 200TDI so that when you put the full beam on the dips stay on? :?
I find that the standard light setup is quite poor for our Cumbrian back roads at night. 8)

You'll burn the bulbs out, they're not designed to operate for long periods with both filimanets running.
-
Set of spots'll cost you £30ish... An hours work (if you go real slow!) and your there.
Better solution all round.
-
Or you could upgrade your front end, to a 300 grill and lights. do a search its been done before.
-
I wouldn't say 300 lights are all that good, I could wish mine were brighter!

And/or upgrade the bulbs to the super white ones?
Dont go for the 100w ones without fitting relays  it burns out the swiitch

Plus 100w aren't leagal for road use (IRC)

I'de say bung some spots on as well . . . . wire through a relay and take a feed from the mainbeam so you get spots and main together.
That should brighten things up for you

Cheers all
Just ordered some of the fancy new white bulbs.
I have 4 55W spots to fit once I get hold of a light bar to put them on. My old bar is too short.

Actually a lot of competition cars use both filaments together. What does shorten the life of a Halogen bulb is running it at too low a voltage.
However given the weakness of the wiring system behind the lamps I'd suggest a set of spots too, you can point them where you want which is another advantage.

They may look small but they sure make a difference
By mounting them into the grill they are better protected than having 2 large ones sticking out.

Thanks I got them as a set of 4 off ebay (Can't find the seller) I originally had them mounted on my light bar on my defender.
They are oval shaped 55W 3.5 inch x 3 inch.
After a quick butcher with the Dremel they fit like a glove.
Trying to decide wether to put the other 2 lights in the grill as well. :P

I found that +30% bulbs from Halfords, for about a tenner a set, made all the difference.
