I've been looking at the newer Chevy Blazer 4.3 LT's.
Has anyone on here had one, know anyone whos had one and maybe able to point out any common problems with them or things to look out for?
I quite fancy one but don't know alot about them so thought I'd start my research on here.
From what I've seen/read so far they seem a good buy at the moment but what's it like getting parts and extras for them?
Cheers for any info. :D

Canonly help as having one as a hire car in the states. Semmed nice enough buggy, comfortable and all the toys.
Only problem I spotted was all the wanna be offroaders beleive them to be indestructable and magically dont drive any different on snow & ice, which like any other 4x4, is rubbish :) Loads of parts available if you know a mate in the US/Canada as they frequently get totalled

I can only speak as someone who owned an 83 K5 Blazer, 6.2 V8 diesel, so not exactly the same beast - well, not at all actually :)
I found that getting standard service item was as easy and cheap as any UK vehicle, I used US Automotive & their service was excellent. Lots of American parts and service suppliers advertise in Classic American Magazine. For bigger bits & upgrades you are talking US - but the strong pound goes a long way to compensate for shipping charges.
If you're talking about a newish Blazer, personally I'd rather go for a Dodge Durrango. My sister owns one (in Atlanta) and we hired one for our last US holiday - superb vehicle (then again, it was the 5.7 Hemi Magnum :D )

One of the main things that's attracting me to the Blazer is the price tag TBH.
For a full LT spec motor about 5 - 6 years old then you're only talking £3500 - £4500 and with the specs that they have it seems a good buy. I just want to make sure there is nothing that there's not going to be any real problems.
The Durrango I do fancy but I could one find 3 for sale, a 1999 V8 that looks tacky and the other two were over £15k, mind you one was a supercharged Shelby!!
Thanks for the input so far, keep 'em coming. :D

What about a ford explorer. RHD,4.0, fully loaded and within your budget
All the bad press was about the sport version which is totally different to the full size version.
My dad had one and didnt sell it .... It was stolen. He would still have it now. I would buy one as they are an awfull lot of motor for the money. They were £27K new and like most biguns , Second hand values are low now.

Ahh, but the Blazer is a 4.3 V6 RHD. :D
They started importing the RHD Blazer in 1999 so there are a few around, plus I don't really like the look of the Explorer and I think the wife is coming round to the Blazer!!
