I'm going to be starting work on the 2a in the next week & know it'll need a fair few parts. My question is, would it be better to buy the parts as needed, or get another reasonable 2a & swap parts over? I've seen what looks like a solid '66 for £350, would it make economic sense if most of it was useable?

Depends how knackered the one you have is really, my series 3 owes me very little and should be on the road for near 200 quid all in. You will find that a lot of parts you want people offer for free or beer tokens and the parts are very very cheap anyway. Obviously if you have a badly rotten chassis and crumbling bulkhead it may be worth buying a donor vehicle.

The bulkhead is a bit rotten, how much do you think I could get one for?

Depends what you want, if the bulkhead is only a bit rusty and the chassis is ok i wouldnt bother. Mine is a much newer truck than yours and we have had to replace the footwells, the chassis needs a few holes sorting out and the bulkhead need lots and lots of filler in all the usual places but isn't bad enough to start ripping the truck in bits and replacing. Axles / gearboxes / engines / bodypanels etc are very very cheap to buy anyway. Old Landys are not s'posed to be concourse, get her running and mot'd for as little money as possible then you can start to make her a nicer truck.
Heres a pic of my old dog as purchased.

Hmmmmm.......... well needs new window channels, has holes everywhere but most now filled with filler and / or rivets and dented to [!Expletive Deleted!], it has a leaking sunroof and i rubbed it down of a fashion but not properly before hand painting it so is not a very good finish. But apart from that it is lovely lol.
