Title: Mince pies
Post by: muddy4x4 on December 12, 2006, 20:51:07: Why is it that I make my own mince pies,when i can buy a packet of 6 for about Ã‚Â£1 ? Only moaning cos I`ve just made my 3rd dozen and know that I`ve many more to make :(

Post by: clbarclay on December 12, 2006, 21:21:48: Personally I have yet to find a shop bought mince pie thats worth what they charge 6 for a quid is 50p or more profit foled by 25p worth of packaging.... They might only cost a quid but you'll be lucky if you get 10p worth of mice pies and it shows in the quality.

A plateful of good mince pies that have been heated and crisp up in the oven, remove the lid and add a suitable quantity of brandy butter replace lid and Mmmmmm.

ex wife used to work at a place that dealt with 'returns'...and an aquaintance deals with them now...remember the call back a few months ago? -- well guess where it went?? :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Post by: Range Rover Red on December 15, 2006, 13:00:37: When I was a kid my dad used to make ours - it was the only time he was let loose in the kitchen. As soon as the first lot came out of the oven, he knew it was time to start making the next lot. :twisted:

To be honest, I prefer my own mince pies to shop-bought ones. There's nothing like eating one that's so fresh you burn your tongue on it.
