Snail Mail are great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
bought a spare alloy from someone on here and they sent it by Royal Mail.
not a problem you would think but thet tried to deliver it on Monday but no-one was in so they left a card saying they would be back on Tuesday with it.
SWMBO stayed in all day and eventually got bored and phoned them at 16:00 to see where they were. was told that it would be anytime between 0800 and 1800 so there was still time.
They never turned up. (SWMBO is not happy with things like this).
She phoned them yesterday and they said it was taken back to the depot last night and they dont know why. She gave them till noon to deliver it or else
Man turns up at 11:00 and said "yes, i was at the top of your road last night but it was dark so I didnt fancy coming down it so I just left"
This was at 1700 so he still could have managed it. And on the Monday he was there in the dark so I think he just could not be ars*d.
Rant over. I now have a nice spare wheel for when I break one of the Disco's :D :D :D

I think we have got to the stage now with our local sorting office that they deliberately give us false information with regards to any parcels, due to the complaints we have put in.
They have never attempted to deliver a parcel, always posting the 'while you were out' cards, even when we are in!
Last two parcels somehow got returned to the sender after we chased them for a week.
Perhaps we should try the 'we pay for this service' and see if they offer us 50p back
-
paid £10 for the postage thinking it would make the process easier but it was not worth the torrent of abuse from SWMBO when the plonkers never showed, she was quite right as well
-
Quite a few will be on strike over the weekend. How popular are they at Christmas!

Better still, pay after the parcel is delivered. They'd make sure it got there on time

BT are taking me to court, or trying
Over bills that they have sent an have never arrived :(
I've had all sorts go missing in the post. Half the time its been stuffed through Number 1's door (I'm 1A and the stuff is addressed to 1A) or just never arrives.
-
for some reason we have never in the seven years that we have lived in the house received any mail on a Monday :?: :?: :?:
-
I am going to complain to my local office as of late i have had 2 recorded delivery items just put through my door without me being asked to sign for them!
-
if there was only royal mail i would pack up tommorrow. lost loads of stuff using them, and they are full of it.
-
I'd much rather have Royal Mail delivering my stuff that City Link or Home Link
But there again I live in a different area to you lot

-
im a letter and packet sorter at royal mail and everyletter has to be out by the same do so it dosnt havnt anything to do with us guys its all up to the driver and what they do,
there is loads of use working and at christmas its mad so theres even more, royal mail are charged for every letter or packet they dont get out in that day and like anyone they dont want to pay out money for no reason so they make sure they are out the sorting office :D

and also!
the only reason u have late letters isnt because they are lost its because people dont put post codes on the packets and letters so we have to send them somewhere so special people have to open then to find out where they going or have to put codes to addresses so thats why they get late not cos they have been lost so if u post a letter or packet
MAKE SURE U PUT A POST CODE ON :D

Thats a sackable offence especially if it is a special delivery. Some postpersons sign on your behalf thinking they are doing you a favour and saving you a trip to the sorting office to pickk it up. If you dont want them doing it for you leave the postie a note asking them to leave a card.

This doesnt sound like Royal Mail as Royal Mail only try and deliver once and then they leave a card saying they tried and will only redeliver if you phone up and ask them to rediliver. Most of the time a parcel in a urban area will be delivered by a van doing just parcels or in a rural area it will be the same guy delivering your mail in a van who will deliver parcels. Royal Mail generaly deliver in the morning and last delivery at this time of year will be about 1pm ish on average.
I was a postie for 6 years. The job on paper is ace, the job was ace, the management are c***. I have SO many bad stories about the management from bullying to not being able to stop pay properly and then me having to fork out over £600 when they make a mistake.

Letters are NEVER opened to find where they are supposed to go to. Letters and packets are only opened by the RLB (return letter branch) which is in Ireland to be able to return them to thier owner. If there is no address then the item is held there for a period of about a month and if nobody phones up to claim it,it gets destroyed. Postmen and women try thier very hardest to find a home for letters. Even if ou put a map on the envelope and the name of who it is to go to and rough area I can bet you it will get there. I have done that a few times and got there everytime.
Items with no postcodes on get thier photo taken and then people in an office in Reading find the postcode and tell the machinne which barcode to put on for the auto processing machine. The barcode is the pink one on letters only. That is to enable the mail to be sorted into each round directly at the sorting office.

It's a shame the quality of service varies so much, if our parcel force guy can't deliver in the morning, he comes back the same day to try again. He knows one of the neighbours is never in morning so goes to her on his way back regardless. If he can't deliver they keep it at the depot for a couple of daus before trying again so I don't go to collect something that's still on the van.
Shame they lost so many of our wedding invites, that wasn't the local lot though but still a PITA.
-
sorry muddyjames but you are wrong with regards to the service provided in my area.
they tried at 1515 to deliver, no-one in so left the card saying they would try again tomorrow. after that we would have to travel 40 miles to their central parcel point to collect it.
we are in a semi rural area. the post guys are usually great except when they are training a new guy and he keeps reversing into my stone dyke
SWMBO also caught one of them having a pee against the side of the coal shed, he was most embarrassed as i think it was a cold day

Are you sure it wasnt parcel force as opposed to RM? You must have very good posties around your way then. Amazed management allow your posties to be nice and cheerful. Normally they put a stop to it
-
I have loadsa probs with RM. Post not received on a regular basis, local post men (2 of them) are happy chaps so not sure whats going wrong. Also I send a lot of small parcels out. Any thing between 5 to 15 a week & at least 10% of them go missing. They have full address printed & attached as well as a return address. Not pleased at the mo with them causing me a lot of grief!
