This is quite an interesting patent from Land Rover:

Looks a bit familiar, doesn't it?

It was more than just a patent, it was built and marketed in the late eighties/ early nineties.
I believe it did some MOD trials but didn't win a contract.

I have driven an Esarco 8 wheeler around the Mid Norfolk off road centre at Runhall. It didn't have a full cab like the drawings and was quite scary in the way it toppled over ridges on its centre axles. Rover V8 powered and 100% LR running gear plus ISTR a LR gearbox and two (I think) LR transfer boxes, sadly the owner broke one of the diffs later in the day and bits apeared through the dif pan.

A mate of mine ran one of these up here for about a year - think he sold it to someone in Wales
The first three were V8's - his was a 4500cc Perkins Phazer TD
This was thirsty enough so god knows what the V8 was like
Quite a handy bit of kit mind you cos it had a hydraulic tipping loadspace - fairly good off road but I reckon you just got in further and stuck deeper ! - boy when it got stuck it stayed stuck !

I would LOVE to modify my disco so it becomes a 6x6. Remove the back end from just in front of the very rear door and then fix another rear from where the roof steps up.
Thats my dream but it will never happen!!

Hmm, those doors look familiar.

Ah, here's the baby:

And apparently a company in Texas still makes a derivative.

I WANT one!
