Trouble is road rpicing will be so...... Pricy. We pay enough in fuel duty as it is. Scrap road rip off tax, put your insurance in the screen along with the MOT cert (not that the scuffers need to see it these days) and abolish extortion tax. How can you persued people to leave the car at home weekdays wehen they have to pay tax to have it sat on the drive?
-
should have a poll for keep tax or more tax on fuel or toll roads
i do agree with having insurance type disc in the screen
but then the police computor spots untaxed and uninsured cars
but no offten enough
we got the car in bulgaria and u buy insurance when u mot and register the car every year and u get new plates to also u pay vigretta (road toll yearly that u put in the screen but only if u use the main roads)

:( :( In total today, over the Internet I've paid £190.00 for a years road tax and £215.00 for a years Insurance...that's a total of £405.00 and all I get for it is 2 bits of paper...value for money or what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like that idea of Licence plates, bit like the US.
but then they re-test drivers every 2 years and re-issue those licences too.

I buy mine from our local post office - it may close if more people go online to do things

Not Quite
You relicence the veichle yearly. Last time I did it wasd Ca$45 (About £20). Your licence must be renewed every two years, if you just turn up, its a rubberstamp job. however if (like me) you leave it more than that then yes, you have to take an abreviated test again. You are treated like a new driver, eg if I go back and start driving outside my 12 month overlap on the UK Licence I'll get hammered for insurance for 6 months (new drivers pay about 4x what they will eventually pay for 6 months)
Its also a criminal offence NOT to carry your insurance details.
It does of course very a from state to state/province. I think the best bit was:
R1CH 1
DMC 12
OUTATM
All cost me £100 each, as opposed to what, easilly a good few £1000 here

I think this is changing, isn't it? I don't think the post offices are going to be issuing road tax any more. Or am I thinking of something else?
