Can anyone help,, I have just had UPS deliver a parcel from the USA, SWMBO has bought me an Xmas pressie, total $69 plus $30 for the shipping.
Slighlty surprised at the £35 import charge,,, anyone know the limits as it sounds a lot on 69 dollars.
It was marked up as a present.

That's what happens when UPS deliver. The costs are their "Import Duty" (read admin tax) for making them get off their a*se and deliver it.
You pay all the delivery charges, duty and tax for the destination end of the shipment. This is only normally applied when the value of the item exceeds the UPS rate for delivering it.
Or something like that. Anyone work for UPS?
I used to order a lot of Acraglas from the US until the supplier started using UPS. The total value of the goods was just over their limit, so I started getting hit with their costs as well, which meant the end cost doubled. :x

What a surprise, it's the Useless parcel service again!
I had the same when I bought my air springs from the states. They came direct from the manufacturer so I got stuffed with thei dick terpine tax.
The vendor has stopped using useless parcels now but the manufacturer hasn't.
It's partly because they give such huge discounts to big shippers but like you say, if they have to get of their a***s and do some work........
I was surprised they didn't damand a tip too

Yes, that's exactly it. We stopped using UPS because their admin fees were crazy.
