Cholera

Precisely, & John Snow founded the science of Epidemiology in the process.
He plotted the outbreaks onto a local map & visited the houses, spoke to relatives & by a process of elimination that Sherlock Holmes would be proud of sourced one outbreak back to a water pump in a yard in Soho.
Upon further examination, it was revealed that the waste from overflowing cess-pools was contaminating the well supplying the pump

It was also the time of the outbreaks that also lead to (Sir) Joseph Bazalgette designing the London sewerage system & woders like the Crossness Pumping station

Sadly the 2 men never met

The Bristol Blenheim was indeed originally built as a light bomber, but as you can read here (http://www.battleofbritain.net/0012.html) in the 2nd & 4th paragraphs it was utilised as a long-range fighter.

Bristol Cars (http://www.bristolcars.co.uk/) website (there's various Blenheim varients)
