So, I was in Asda, looking at the mags... Only decent ones!
When It came to 4x4's the choice wasn't good, Now I drive a Zuk so Land Rover mags is not realy my thing.
So any suggestions??
The one I did see was 90% adverts, no names given.

I picked up Novembers (I think) issue of "Total Off-Road" & thought it was a pretty good read. Some intresting articles, well writen & not too many insurnce adverts
-
theres only one Land Rover mag anyway what you can get from there. (LRO)

The Borders book shop at Fosse Park in Leicester does EVERY Landie mag there is as well as TOR and a couple of others... couldn't help myself one day and spent about £30!
-
and im suscribed to that so lre etc etc has to come from a little shop in smalley :x :x :x
-
I take it there's no Suzuki mags???

I get Total Off Road every month good for articles, news and pictures, the large slice they allocate to L-Rs does rile a bit but the mods they show being done on L-Rs can be adapted to other marques as well. And you get a roadbook every month as well now being updated for the nercs
After that you have 4x4 Magazine - lots of insurance details in this one plus the occasional interesting article, majors on new vehicles though. I buy it sometimes when I'm bored and need a quick read.
Another one is 4x4 Mart, again has insurance details but has better articles and sometimes can be interesting - the last I bought had a comparison on winches, the next one I get will have a article on buying Shoguns (but that is for a special reason  )
If you like dirty weekends then Total Off Road will probably be your mag
BTW if you get it make sure you read the Contacts column completely each month (usually on page 3)

Not a magazine, but Modifying Suzuki 4x4: For Serious Off-road Action (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Modifying-Suzuki-4x4-Off-road-Speedpro/dp/1904788912/sr=1-5/qid=1167465862/ref=sr_1_5/202-7615388-4054224?ie=UTF8&s=books) should be of some intrest to you. Written by a friend of mine, but I'm ashamed to say I've never read it (sorry John!)

TOR, one of their guys is on the forum quite a bit.
Good mag well written and tend to see the lighter side of life. Mudlark you really do have a bee in your bonnet, there are loads of non lr in TOR. Thats the nice thing about it...plus ive been in it about 5 times so has Rollazuki and another mate of ours.

The TOR road book last issue was North Notts revisited. It coincided with our long-planned trip yesterday. I have to say that the lanes are now in a state, the change in their condition over the space of 5 days was quite a lot, and we got earach from one home owner about the mud that had been trailed onto his driveway (well it's actually the boat outside his house, and we were going to other way, etc etc). I for one would be interested to know if they still review the lanes that are on the road book :?
-
What sort of a complaint is that. While i welcome constructive criticism, panning a roadbook because of changes in five days, esp at this time of the year is hardly fair.
Do you really expect us to drive the whole of the UK's lanes every five days? Get a grip. Thank you to all those with positive messages of support.

Boggert , we were out in Lincs on Thursday. Tend to do a couple of runs out there a year if you fancy more details and coming along send me a pm.
-
Hi,
Hingmy(steve) - i think you got it wrong RRB had been out in a reccy for our treasure hunt drive i believe and commented on how the lanes had deteriorated from his reccy to the actual drive not from the TOR road book! we actually use them a lot and enjoy driving them
regards

Nah not really, I'd probably drive one if they didn't fall to pieces all the time   Oh yeah and if I could squeeze in behind the wheel
Very rarely get a Mitsi in it though 2 maybe 3 times in it's history?

T O R has to be the one.
Drove one of the road books today, (fourth time on that one) and the conditions change every trip.
One place where they say that there could be problems, has been repaired, and a couple of places that were no trouble at all, are now "interesting" to say the least.
Pick the mag that suits what your particular interests are.
Problem solved.
Pete.

Mudlark, you miss the point a bit. To get in TOR is nothing to do with brown nosing or make ..its simply done on the spec and mods and level of customisation on your truck.
I can assure you from my expierience that it has nothing to do with the badge but everyhting to do with the truck. Fill in the application form in this months mag. If its good enough they will invite you to be in the modded truck area...if not then they wont.
Maybe you could start a trend of highly modded mitsis... i wouldnt mind reading about them thats for sure.

August 2005 we had a club write up in there, featured three or four different
pajs, it was a good write up and it was nice to meet them. 8)

cheers for that mark...so they have a fari bias then!!

NO no no no no (http://mudlark.info/images/smileys/hali_piiskaa.gif) (http://mudlark.info/images/smileys/hali_piiskaa.gif) (http://mudlark.info/images/smileys/hali_piiskaa.gif)
You're getting me all wrong read the lines not between them
Seriously I know how to get into TOR, the comment I made about Mitsis bear no reflection on TOR whatsoever as far as I know there have only been 2 modded Shogun/Pajero in TORs history unless you want to count Paul Leaworthy's Protruck which uses Shogun wheel uprights
Obviously that's down to the people that drive them and not TOR, mind you if you don't need to mod a truck to use it in serious off road situations it's understandable why there are few Jap mods and so many Land-Rover ones
As much as I would like to fill in the application form for Donington I konw that the truck I'm driving now is not suitable for showing mods - there's hardly any on it  However give me chance and I'll hopefully be able to give it a go for next year (that's 2008   )

Well I only subscribe to one magazine.
