.....shortly after the last photo it coughed and spluttered to a halt. Luckily it was only damp electrics.

I pulled three other cars (all Peugeot diesels) from the floods today and made £45 towing them home.

Two points of note- don't buy a French car- the air intake is BELOW the front FOGLIGHT- they will suck in water if it's only 6" deep!! These cars also have really poor towing eyes which mean you have to grovel around on hands and knees in freezing water find them.

Scroll down to OFFCHURCH. If you click on the photo's you'll see a photo of the crossing at it's meanest- when the bridge got washed away (Easter 1998).

Its not a Ford, its a Jaguar.  Although the company is owned by Ford now.

I feel a hat, coat door interaction occuring.

You worked for your money then. My rule is "I will tow you out, but only if you attach the rope your end". That way there is no comeback if you pull something off, and they get to do the grovelling.

I agree with getting them to attach the rope but I still check. If they put it in a stupid place and it pulls off the whip can still damage your car.

VAG are the same. Standard location on an Audi is behind the NS headlight. Newer Pugs its way up on the bonnet.

And what about the fords where you have to screw the damn thing in and half the time the owner lost the eye anyway :)

Oh and clios, watch the rear eye. If they panic and brake you tear the eye, wheel liner and a good bit of chassis off.
