diamond dave you might want to rethink your avatar as its not suitable for this site mate

in what way did the steering go matty? if its got a wobble on it may be the steering  damper needs replacing or you have a track rod end on its way out

dave you need orrp for that type of avatar mate

matty it could be your trac rod ends if you changed the damper and its not unknown for new dampers to mess about

Was it the infamous death shake? mine does that, sometimes the whole car is wobbling.  Neither of the 2 non-abs cars do it but both ABS cars do to some degree, I think the only bit I havn't swapped is the Railko bush in the swivel.

The LR manual recomends:
Steering damper
steering balljoints
Radus arm bushes
Swivel preload

Well I've checked or replaced them all, new polybushes made it worse

I've stopped caring, a new set or ProComp dampers help cover it up, I found slackening the steering damper bushes stopped the kickback into the steering and different tyres/wheels have an effect.

WOW It isnt just my disco then that does that. Does it feel like you have a caravan on the back snaking badly and your trying to regain control? That is what mine feels like. Very scarry. I couldnt go to 70mph on the motorway on new yeqars day without it wanting to weave everywhere. different weight in the Disco makes it better/worse and towing it does it sometimes and not other times.

Last week I had to go over a rail way bridge and a 90 degree bend approach and depature on the road and going in 1 dirrection there was a pot hole and every time I forgot it was there due to looking for cars coming the other way if I hit it, it would bounce accross to the right. was quiet worrying.

I have recently had new suspension fitted and I got standard shocks and police spec springs and it seems to have made no difference in the snaking thing. It does drive horizontaly now though

What is wrong with Daves avatar? This is the only thread I have ever read with 2 conversations going

if its snaking about from the rear, then i'd look at rear trailing arm bushes... the big doughnut shaped one on the chassis end.

as for the shakes, get your tracking checked, it was the cause of some major 'pothole shake' in mine....

i don't understand why Disco's are so bad, yet my old defender never did it at all...
