We went for a very pleasant walk today with some friends in Sutton Park, Sutton Coldfield nr B'ham.
While enjoying the countryside we were surprised to find that a Bi-plane had landed in the park. We saw the plane and went over to it getting a couple of pics of it in the process.
The park rangers using two LR's and some other 4x4 were there by the time we got there and i chatted with one of them. The pilot had landed in the park just because he wanted to, no emergency, no real reason.
The pilot insisted in taking off but there was some words spoken between the rangers and pilot and they physically prevented him from starting his plane, afterall there were people all over the field in which he had landed and these needed to be cleared to a safe distance first.
The rangers cleared people from the entire area and while doing so the police arrived and had words with the pilot.
In the end he was cleared for take off and we stood and watched as he taxi'd past us to get into the wind to take off.
After take off he circled us once then flew away.
It certainly added a dimension to our day that none of us expected.
Pics below, can anyone identify the plane, like make and model etc?

I think thats against the law, Police shoild of stuck him with a section 59 :lol:
I wonder if you can do that to a plane!

I could have with the reg, I can see G-A but need the other 3 letters. Then I can look it up and also see who it belongs too. :wink:

Long time since I spotted planes but I think it could be a Gypsy Moth

We were waiting for the parking attendants to come along and put a clamp on one of the wheels and a notice saying if the fine wasn't paid within 2 hours the vehicle would be impounded :D :D :D
BTW, whats a section 59?

It's a Thruxton Jackaroo, G-AOIR.

Yes it had Thruxton on the tail piece but being the numpty I AM I thought that was the airport it was registered at, bit like when you see a port/harbor on the back end of a boat or yacht. :D

Imagine though, if you'd have "crossed the line" and drove your 4x4 onto the grass - OMG! - it would've bee nthe end of the world!!!

Now you gat that I decided to read up a bit on it and came across this:
C-FPHZ is one of the rarest aircraft in the world. “T.J.†started life in 1937 as a De Havilland DH82A (British) Tiger Moth and served as an RAF trainer until the start of the Second World War. The airplane was reportedly in France at the start of hostilities and fled back to England just ahead of the advancing German forces - which makes this one of the very few flying aircraft still in existence that actually saw combat during WW2.
"TJ" was used as a training and liason aircraft throughout the Second World War, but after VE day, the plane ended up in storage. In 1958, a group of enthusiasts at Thruxton Aerodrome decided to convert some of the numerous war surplus Tiger Moths into four seat aircraft and the resulting aeroplane was named “The Thruxton Jackaroo.†Some 16 examples were built as well as a variant named the Rollason Jackaroo.
Well I got the moth bit right then :lol: - It has the distinctive DH engine cowling on it (one part fits all makes :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: )

if the CAA get ahold of this, the pilot will most probably have his PPL revoked.
As far as i can gather from my long hours studying for my PPL, he should only land at designated airstrips. Fields etc for severe emergency use ONLY (engine failure etc)

The one at the back is 110 Defender.
Is the other one a Nissan Pick Up.?
