Does anyone know the Rules and Regs on tyres for ARC RTV trials?
i am looking at tyres and want something aggressive but i am planning to do some ARC RTV trials this year

Tyres must be road legal for the vehicle
no greater that 38 inch diameter
and not be "OPEN" type tread like Maxi Cross (you shouldn't be able to looke through the tread from one side to the other)

B.8. TYRES.
B.8.1. Any size tyres may be used so long as they have a maximum inflated diameter of 33". Forward Control Land Rovers (all types) may have larger diameter tyres up to a maximum inflated diameter of 37â€Â.
B.8.2. Tyres may be changed to any type other than tractor or implement tyres, “maxi-cross†type tyres or those fitted with studs or chains. (Tractor and implement tyres have a "V"-shaped tread of separate blocks of rubber like the ones fitted to the driving wheels of tractors and dumper trucks.)

Yes you definatly can and you could even run 235.85.16 or 265.75.16 without a problem although as i think you know they would require arch trimming. This is just my opinion but a lift is just a waste of time unless you buy a set of match spring tailored to you which 1. arnt actually that much more expensive and 2. will really allow you to unleach the full potential in your disco off road.
Insana special tracks (http://www.paddockspares.com/sp/category/WHEELS_AND_TYRES/subcategory/Insa_Turbo_Remoulds/searchbox2/4__Special_Track.html) will be allowed and these will work very well off road although as i'm sure you can understand on road handleing will be worse than the machos.
Pro comp (http://www.explorerprocomp.co.uk/acatalog/ES3000_modvehicles.html) will do you any shock,pretty any length and any eye config for about £30 a corner which say you got the +5" ones coupled with some extended hoses, and spring relocaters and raised shock mounts will give you bags more travel wilst still maintaing your on road handleing.
If you fit some 33" tyres you will acheive around a 1"- 2" lift under the diffs and thus the whole motor so if you are prepare to trim your arches in order to fit the larger 33" tyres then you will achieve a lift effectivly for nothing.
This is just what i would be doing if i had a disco, but as i dont please check (i'm sure someone on here will tell you) that 33's will only foul the outer arch and not the inner arch(i dont think they do but you never now.)

I had a 90 with 265-75s on and replaced them with 235-85s. I could turn a full vehicles width tighter. This made areal difference on trials.

what is the overall diameter of 235-85s against 265-75S ?

Rule B.7.1.

B.7.2.

(tractor and implement tyres have a V shaped treads of seperate blocks of rubber like the ones fitted to the driving wheels of tractors and dumper trucks)
If you can pass a straight edge from one side of the tyre to the other inbetween the tread blocks then it will not be allowed.
ITST and the simex ET's are currently still allowed to be used.
265's will mean arch rubbing and a large turning circle.
235's will be a better choice.
IMHO a set of 235 macho style are used for trials and they cope well with the conditions.

run 265's just now in the insat turbo special traks & they are much better better than grizzlys etc,would say that the 265/75/16 is the perfect size for trialling

then dont lift it for gods sake :shock:
it will be to high and wobbly you need to keep the hight and weight down, hard in a disco but :roll: :lol:
which leaves you in a pickle for tyres, unless you fit nice fresh hd springs and just fit longer shox which will geve you nice sus travle, but dont no what size tyres youll be able fit then :roll:

if i want to trial my 90 with the rear locker fitted i have to disable it sufficently so the scrutineer is happy,im giving mine the fuse :lol:

it has HD shocks on the front any way
but i am not to bothered about a small bit of rubbing on my body work :lol:
