What do you think, (we can take honesty either way)????

Your choice, only one person will ever moan about it if it's wrong (about 13 or so years time     )

as the father of a teenager may I suggest KEVIN (wait till they hit teen years and believe me it WILL fit ) ;)
I can also supply you with a teenager to adult dictionary - lists over 100 phrases that can be made from one 'grunt'

like the name but love the spelling of it
-
Not sure on the spelling but the name is ok :)
-
My youngest child is Eric ... he's 7 BTW. I think it's a fine name, a real investment of a name ... just think when he's middle-aged he'll be greatful his parents gave him a proper name
My Eric was named after two great Erics .. one musical genius, one comedy genius.
-
Erik is fine.
Take it from someone with a strange name.
Horness. <- Real name.
-
An acquaintance of mine has just had a baby bou and called it "Kiki" the poor little tyke

I had a sectrary called Kiki once... She was a nightmare! That name sends shivers down my back!
As for a boy! poor kid hey, I think you have to ask yourself, would you want it as a name??
However I think Erik is a great name. Sounds strong, bold!
-
I like the name - can only agree with other comments above - the spelling makes it more interesting.
I don't think that many people that are ever really happy with their name but if you had chance to change it would you??
I recently change my surname by deed poll so considered changing first name too but couldn't think of anything I'd prefer.
Good luck with the new baby when he arrives & best wishes Carole x

The established, traditional names make a habit of coming back into fashion every so often - you can't beat them with the passing fads.
A good, strong name - you'll probably find that by the time he gets to school, he will be there with a crowd of Eriks :D
Best wishes for a safe arrival into the world when the time comes!

My Eric was named after two great Erics .. one musical genius, one comedy genius.
Clapton and Morcambe by any chance???
The name started out not as a fashion thing but as a joke. We had just had our scan and we were talking names, I was getting a bit peed off cos I was trying to watch telly (CSI Miami) (6 hours later) The end titles came on as Jess was STILL going on about names, so up popped the name Eric. I said we would call him Eric and she hit the roof, no f*****g chance !!!!!!!!
It kinda grew on me, and wound Jess up a bit....... perfect  so it became a joke.... also growing on Jess
Jess mis-carried before 12 week scan and we were devestated
Now Jess is 31 weeks and we are excited, nervous, happy, sh****ng ourselves :? and we BOTH love the name :D :D
We told people we were calling him Erik (Jess spelling choice) and had some strange reactions. My brother said 'what you calling it really??' When he named his son after a bike he was saving for at the time (Zephyr). A girl at work has a girl called Dana and wants a boy......to call it Fox  (yes I'm serious) and really hates 'Erik'
Jess's gran says it is awful- it is German she says- :?
So just wanted a neutral reaction,
HORNESS..... Unusual name  I guessing your female, and kinda hoping your name is not Smith or Brown
Anyone who voted 'poor little b******d'..... please say why  its a need to know thing....
Thanks for all your support
Steve Jess & Bump

Difficult to say without seeing the surname. Missus has one on the way and a girls name we liked was Regan, but would get the [throw it] taken something rotten if called Regan Wright  If a boy we did consider Richard, but we have a Harry & Tom already, you know the rest
-
steve you could all ways call the bump wrongun :(biglaugh):
-
 if its a girl I suppose it should be "Always", ready for marriage then
-

i had my first and called him matthew on the ward there were another 3 matthews, had 2nd boy called him mitchell, 3rd tristan and 4th harvey there is 2 of each in school of the other 2nd, 3rd, and 4th child
i think Eric is ok as its a persons name and not just a baby or childs name

well we have between us a
JAYNE ANNE
CHRISTOPHER JONATHON

THATS SO UNFAIR.
Speaking as a 51 year old male named BEVERLEY don't give your child a "unisex" name and if you do don't send him to an all boys public school
Erik is a fine name and Lewis is my sons name so as you can guess I like that too.
If he is not happy when he gets older then he can always call him self Rik or Ricky or even Lewis.
-
Hi,
we have a Lauren & Jodie - twins, when i was pregnant we said we were going to call them Lucrecia and Jezebel - should have seen the reaction to those names!
bottom line is how does it sound with the surname - kids can be very cruel (i suffered greatly as a child due to my proper name - eleonora transmuted to jackanory for those who remember that, also cinders (cinderella), - i became the 3rd best fighter in the school and even no 1 & 2 would think twice before taking me on  )
hypocrite that i am - i get very cross if i find out the girls have been fighting
however - if you like the name, what does anybody elses thoughts matter - its your baby HAVE FUN :D
regards
ela

Surname is BUTCHER so he is going to get ripped to bits for that....... I did, my brother did, my dad did.... etc.......
If I had £1 for everyone that asked for meat related products Id be driving a very nice rangie up a very long drive to get home
-
Well I think it is a good name :) Of course being the father of R'Vanneth and Leith I'd be a bit of a hypocrite if I said it wasn't <grin>
-
I think the name will be fine my youngest is called Zaccheaus, zacc for short :D
-
My Eric was named after two great Erics .. one musical genius, one comedy genius.
Clapton and Morcambe by any chance???
Absolutely!
I'm very much into traditional names, I got a George Harry. a Rose Amy and Eric is an Eric Alfred.
I said we would call him Eric and she hit the roof, no f*****g chance !!!!!!!!

Good luck to both of you and best wishes for the bump's safe arrival xx
