I saw a post about this the other day and now it has happened to me. The inside pad on the rear right had fallen out causing the pedal to go straight to the floor and the piston touch the disc!
I have put a new pair of pads in to keep me mobile but it looks like I need a new caliper. Anyone got one or have any other suggestions?

no, but get it sorted properly!
derv and brakes, the 2 most important things in life.

Might just be the piston which IIRC can be replaced.
I did mine for an old 1984 RRC I had and it was pretty easy.... trouble s... next time I tried on a 1994 RRC... was b!*tch! Ended up taking down to local garage and paying them to do it!
Balance out the potential cost in labour if they end up doing it against the cost of a new caliper. Two bolts and a pipe if you just do the caliper!

My 96' 300 tdi has just done exactly the same, went to Briercliffe 4x4 funday and noticed an annoying and loud squeel all the way there, changed pads on all 4 corners yesterday and couldn't believe that the n/s/r had lost its inside pad!! I have changed em all end am crossing my fingers it doesn't fall out again!!

also happened to me on the rear of my 93/defender
i noticed a fresh score line in the disc and see it had dropped

i started a thread not so long ago after losing two and was advised to change the calipers as they wear out but i left it and all was fine untill yes youve guessed it another rear pad fell out :x
so i have sourced another pair of rear calipers and replaced all the seals they have been on since saturday and i hope that the problem stops although i cant see where the caliper wears out :?
