Does it have an immobiliser?

Sounds like the problem I have but mine wont start at all. Could be fuel pump relay or cut off solenoid ?
Worth checking these first as cheaper and easier than alarm gizmo.

Yes it has an imobiliser  but if its on as in set with remote she wont even turn over so from this info do you still think it could be related.

Thanks again

hi ive come accross this prob before drives fine then dies leav a couple of mins and then fine again etc what it was was a knackered imoliser thingy
they changed a box under the dash and it never hapened again
i think its the same box that does the centrol locking from the key fob

COuld be imobiliser. I di have the link for the page ??
I would test the fuel solenoid first as it could be poping up and down if dodgy. Had the same on diesal van a while back.

Thanks for the help so far
What would be the best way of testing as it only happens every now and then
Are there easy signs if it dying rather than dead

Thanks
Rich

Try what I'll be doing to my Cruise (intermittant fault).  Run an LED from the solenoid for the fuel cut-off (don't need the starter so the only circut needed for the engine) and leave it at the base of the windscreen, so it's lit when ever the sloenoid it energised.  If it goes off and the engine dies then you know it's the imobiliser, if it dies but the LED is still on, then it could be the solenoid.

If you don't want it on all the time, run the LED from the ignition to the solenoid, it will stay off when the ignition is on and the sloenoiod has power to it.

Have a look here (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/stage1v8/TechnicalSpider.htm) for some details of immobiliser faults.

if you get stuck with it, simply run a 12v live form the battery to the solenoid, it'll energise it and away you go
