recovered tonight with the help of a diver and a large tractor! Tractor was feeling the pull of the current - and weighs seven tonnes!
pics will appear on www.tv4x4.co.uk and on mud-club if I can work out how to resize them
watch out for the flow as well as the depth of them there fords!
-
thank goodness he's ok
he helps out at towcester at the record attempts.
Dazza
-
Glad everyone is OK.... but I noticed that the depth board was reading 4 feet as the reporter walked across the front... not sure I'd tackle a 4 foot ford in a group never mind on my own!
-
Good god, bit deep! - you didn't offer to get them out then andy?
EDIT: anyone catch the "name" of the chap in the first report - Christopher Peacock....or as they said Crispycock!!!
-
That looks like a serious amount of water.
One look at the depth board would have put me off, plus the speed of the current should have warned him off.
Wonder if the truck driver kept his job (he sounded worried)
-
These folk seem to lack basic common sense ! The first chap attempted it at night knowing it would have been deeper than normal and it had plenty of warning signs.
The truck driver could clearly see it was very wide and flowing fast.
I would'nt say he deserves the sack but at least a telling off.

First chap attempted it on Sunday after a pay and play, not sure what the depth marker said then or if it was dark or not.

Not as bad as the muppet last year who named his son Drew Peacock.
He didn't realise for two weeks either
His son is going to hate him later on in life i bet

The comment form one of the guys in the lorry was good "it's not a ford it's a river", sorry but isn't that the whole idea of a ford, to cross a river
Even so it's nice in the summer and madness in the winter after rain, so stupid to try either way
-

!F! no
I just know the people who could and did get the 4x4 out - I'm not brave enough to get into 4 feet of water flowing at 20 knots and don't drive a tractor!
-
On that clip with the 4x4 in the water, I could have sworn I saw a periscope go past!
I'm sorry to say this and there but for the grace of God go I, but they must have been daft to even attempt it.
Familiarity breeds contempt!
-
It's easy to look at it and think what an idiot, but I think there are many of us here who might have been tempted to give it a go...
-
oh yes :D I went through when it was showing 3 feet of water,
might have been tempted at 4 feet if it wasn't for the flow
-
we never get any extreme weather our way.... no flash floods, no torrential rain.... no snow AT ALL.......... extreme bad weather warnings for us mean "miserable looking day warning"
-

Not in a V8 with k&n filter  big puddles frighten it
-
defo not in a v8, would have attempted 4 ft in disco but not with fast flowing water.
to dodgy even for me
-
WOW, that was deep bet the lorry driver did it on porpose just for a laugh  There was a mini tornado near use couple weeks back. :)
