Good depth of water in most of Warks fords this moring. The permanent fords are probably best avoided today (4 foot deep at Churchover). Also lots of water in the normally dry crossings.
Had to pull a transit van out the water at Kings Newnham (River Avon) on the way to work. I reckon he took it too quickly airfilter had become a water filter.......

They said on the radio this morning that the ford at Kenilworth Castle was quite deep and to avoid it, shame I'm stuck in the office :roll: :lol:

oh well i forgot my camera ,but the ford at little alne is now part of a big big lake lol and only a submarine would cross it :lol:
the ford at coughton is passable with a snorkle but i dont have one yet , i did manage to cross at peopleton ,although quite deep :lol:
many of the roads around aston cantlow, spernal and great alne were flooded
and berry is now very dirty and wet carpets lol :lol: :lol:

The ford at the end of the village is normally dry but running about 18" at the moment. Even the next one up the river is flowing about 6". I have never seen water in this one before.
Went to look at the Shropham ford a week ago and it was at 90cms on the depth gauge. Didn't drive through it because we were in the Freelander! Dread to think what its at now :shock:

Went through the ford/flood at Kings Newnham at lunchtime. The RAV4 following saw me make it okay (now bear in mind here I have 4" of lift, 33" tyres and am in a much bigger car anyway) and decided to follow. The woman went too quick and flooded the engine and interior up to seat level. So it was on with the waders again....
Going to leave work now for an update on the road chaos.......

geddington ford was shut by the locals and i had to squeeze through the bollards over the bridge
they would not even let me splash some of the water out of the river :cry: :cry: :lol:

That's interesting, I wasn't aware members of the public could shut roads as they saw fit. There are some "spare" roadworks round the corner; maybe I'll shut the A30 later.

well they had road closed signs and as i tryed to pass to go through the ford they all said they had closed the ford as a car had to be towed out.

The police have closed at least two by me now....spoilsorts!
Before they did I had to pull an old lady in a Fiat Punto out of the R.Avon near Rugby. She tried to reverse out of the lane leading into the flood but the cars behind sounded thier horns and wouldn't back up. So she went to cross. When the following cars saw her get stuck they turned around and left her in there with flood water slowly filling the footwells. Nice people....

PPS. The depth gauge at Blaby ford reads low :shock:

Wow. That is the deepest I have seem the lawford ford. Somewhere under that water is a depth marker...assuming it hasn't been washed away.

There are 3 fords within half a mile of our house. One is just a water splash, but was running about 8" or so last night.
Another only floods after reasonable rain and the bow wave came over the bonnet on the Sammy :D A bit scary as the fast flowing water actually pushed the car sideways as I went through :shock:
The last one (which I have never seen flooded until last week) was 'quite interesting' last night. Took a pic of it last night:

and again this morning. The water has dropped by something like 20". At this point it is still running about 12":

I didnt realise it had rained so much. Being stuck in an office all day with no windows means I miss all the rain coming down and it has been dry everytime I commute to and from work. Maybe I should go for a wonder around the local lanes :LOL:
